Oregon law requires contractors to display their CCB number. Here's exactly where to look - and what to do if they don't.
Oregon law requires every licensed contractor to include their CCB number on all of the following:
The CCB number appears as "CCB #" followed by a 4 to 6 digit number - for example, "CCB #226733". Look for this on any document the contractor provides before you sign.
If you have the contractor's business name or the owner's name but not the CCB number, you can search by name on CCB Lookup. CCB Lookup lets you search Oregon contractor records by business name, owner name, or CCB number - and shows full profiles including license status, bond, insurance, and Trust Score.
If a contractor is unwilling or unable to provide their CCB number, treat this as a serious red flag. Licensed Oregon contractors are legally required to display their CCB number - a reluctance to share it may indicate the contractor is unlicensed, has an expired license, or has had disciplinary action taken against their license.
Do not sign any contract or pay any deposit to a contractor who cannot or will not provide a valid CCB number.
Once you have the CCB number, verify it before signing any contract:
OR CCB supports lookup by CCB number only. For searches by name, county, or license type, use CCB Lookup, which provides the full Oregon contractor directory with filters for location and license type.
